Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs Class

Mrs Hibbard, Mrs Lane, Miss Harris, Mrs Gregory, Miss Murphy and Mr Warren

In Hedgehogs class we had a very busy Autumn term, settling into school life, and learning new boundaries and routines and building positive relationships with both peers and adults. We are kind and caring towards one another, we look after our school environment and are proud of others and our own learning and achievements.

For Spring term, this first half term our topic is ‘Traditional Tales’. Children will explore a range of well-loved stories such as ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘Little red Riding Hood’. Traditional tales always provide a magical foundation for developing imagination, vocabulary and confidence.

As we move into the second part of the term, our topic will be ‘Living Things’. The children will be learning about the life cycles of plants and animals through hands on experiences, stories and exciting investigations. This topic will allow wonderful opportunities for the children to continue to develop their curiosity and sense of wonder about the world around them.

In English this term we are continuing with daily phonics through ‘Jolly phonics’. Hedgehogs have high expectations of handwriting and take pride in their presentation. All the children try very hard with their letter and number formation. In Maths, our focus will be continuing to develop and secure the children’s understanding of numbers within 10, with plenty of hands-on practical activities to support early number sense.

I look forward to another fantastic term with Hedgehogs class.

Thank you.

Mrs Hibbard
